SaLaRū Sri Lankan Cultural Academy brings the beauty of Sri Lanka’s performing arts to the heart of Spring, Texas. Founded by professional dancer Saliya Ilankoon, we teach authentic Kandyan Dance, Traditional Drumming, and classical techniques following a structured syllabus for all ages.

Celebrating a Rich Culture

Kandyan Dance

The ancient and sacred Ves dance tradition of
Sri Lanka’s hill country. Students learn the
fundamental postures, mudras (hand gestures),
and footwork patterns of this UNESCO-
recognized art form.

Geta Beraya

The traditional Kandyan drum of Sri Lanka, used in ceremonial dances and rituals. Its powerful rhythms guide dancers and bring energy to every performance.

Ukusa Wannama

A graceful Kandyan dance inspired by the movements of the eagle. It tells a story through expressive gestures, strength, and elegant motion.

Kandyan Kingdom

An ancient highland kingdom of Sri Lanka, known for preserving rich cultural traditions, including classical dance and music.

Costume & Ritual

Traditional Kandyan dance costumes feature elaborate designs, ornaments, and symbolic elements used in sacred rituals and performances.   

Cultural Syllabus

A structured curriculum offering graded
certifications in Kandyan dance tradition.
Students progress through levels earning
